Summary and Suggestions

1.1      Purposes of practicum
a.   Teaching practicum is to provide the student teachers with authentic hands-on experience in teaching.
b.      Developing the student teachers teaching skill
c.       To start collecting experiences to enrich student teachers’ professional wisdom.

1.2      Procedures of practicum
Before joining this program, I was selected from my collage. So, I prepared all the things and the administration for going to Philippines. When I arrived at Ninoy Aquino airport I met the other participants. They were Ariza ( arizasafira.blogspot.com ), Restu ( winaest.blogspot.com ), Farwa (anggrainifarwaapok.blogspot.com ), Rara ( nurfajrazzahra79seateacher.wordpress.com ), Mandala ( seameomandala.blogspot.com ), Rangga ( ranggakrisna.wordpress.com ), Nita ( seameonita.blogspot.com ) and Iqra.
The first week was the student teachers did classroom observation, mentoring and coaching. At that time, they were introduced to the lesson taught, prepared the lesson plan and I knew the characteristic of the students of USHS. The second week was the student teachers got mentoring and coaching: teaching assistantship and immersion, in this time they could fix the lesson plan to get a good performance. The third week was the student teachers got classroom teaching, they applied the planning of the teaching. They show their performance in front of the class and got feedback of the critic teacher. The last week was initial visit that the student teachers showed their final demo of teaching and for all of the duration the student teachers got minimal twenty hours.
1.3      Outcomes of practicum
a.       Increase understanding and appreciation of the education process and learning in school.
b.      Gain reasoning power in studying, formulating, and solving educational problems in school.
c.       Gain experiences and skills to carry out school management learning and activities.
d.      Giving an opportunity to be able to act as a motivator, facilitator, and help thinking as a problem solver.

1.4      The challenges of practicum
The challenges will be found everywhere we face the world. In this teaching program got many challenges, first I found that students of USHS are very smart and critical students moreover they are still junior high school and related to my major that is English, I struggled to make my students understood the topic that presented. On the other hand English is they second language, I had to present the topic well.
I just realize that I had different pronunciation when I thought them and I had PowerPoint presentation and asked them to read the text or example first to minimize misunderstanding between the student teacher and the students.

1.5      Overall impression
Be one of this program was fun, giving a lot of experience and learning that has never been obtained before. I am very grateful to all of you, CLSU, USHS and all my new family in Philippines. When I was leaving, many people reminded me of what kind of the Philippines was based on their knowledge. But I tried to always think positively about it. When I arrived in Philippines a warm welcome from Mr. Regidor Gaboy and my friends and I were met with new families in Philippines. All these thoughts were erased with the feeling of campus and school that warmly welcomed us and we do not think about everything that we have not known about something but we have to realize and learn about the culture there before we face it.

1.6      Suggestions for future improvement
All event of this program run well. The service of the receiving university was very good.  But we have to know about ourselves how we ready to face this program. Learn more about the culture, characteristic, and the environment. when you arrived there, you will be ready to do it and familiarize yourselves. For The students who wants to join this program, please prepare well and don’t forget to bring something special and special performance if there is sudden activity.

Teaching Practice

1.1      Procedures of teaching
Before teaching we need to make lesson plan but actually the teachers in USHS did not make it, but they have known what they will teach. And off course for me it must. I have to arrange my activities in the class well to get a good goal.
When teaching the teacher enters to the class, the students greet, then the teacher checks the attendance. To make the comfortable situation the teacher asks the students to remove the position. The teacher tells the students about someone then they will guess the material by analyzing the motivation. The student will be ready to face the material. The teacher asked the students to open their mind about the topic. During the discussion the teacher provides the students to be active to answer or respond the questions. In next section is application that students can underline the words that related to the topic, and continued with evaluation test is contained by analyzing the sentences which have to find and fix the pronouns agreement errors on their filler and correct together, and the last the teacher asks the students to review the topic.

1.2      Time management and organizing activities
My critic teacher told me how to handle the class such as:
1.      Prepare the topic well: it is proved by prepare the lesson plan and I have to be expert of the topic that I am going to present.
2.      Prepare the supporting material.
3.      Manage the time: always control the time that I have because it will have impact to the planning that I have and also it will have impact to other lesson after my class. The unique thing that I have just known to make the effective time, the teacher will manage sixty minutes for a meeting. The topic will be finished in 2 to 3 meetings so that the teacher should be able to manage the time wisely. When starting teaching teacher give the students for about 5 minutes to prepare themselves for facing the class such as drinking and other activities. Therefore, the students will be focused on the topic.
4.      And do not forget to always give the assignment before closing the class.

1.3      Problem-solving
Something that frighten me was when my coordinator said that the students of USHS are very smart. I thought that was the problem and when I faced my students in observation class. I tried to solve it by approaching them I made small talk out side the class. It made me comfortable with them, I hoped they can assume me as their student teacher, and they can take in my teaching.
In teaching the students of seven explorers and seven adventurers are active. I felt nervous to face them when I got turn to teach. They always directly respond to the instructions and the questions that I gave. It made me enjoy the class.

1.4      Classroom management
It was not difficult to manage the class because the students of USHS are discipline. I started the class by introducing the purpose of the material then they can know what the purpose is but before teaching I asked the students to take their need as like drinking, take a pie etc. The second I checked their pleasure in the class and tried to arrange comfortable position for them and asked the students to clean the classroom. To make sure that they were ready face the class I tried to review the previous meeting. I gave the instruction and duration of the time how long the students do it. Then I will get enough time to finish the meeting well.

In objective step the teacher started to tell what the expected of students after the class and continue to discussion step that the teacher did the routine activities and motivated the students in learning English creatively. The teacher ask the student to read the article that produced by the teacher. In other hand the teacher presented the material of self-introduction. Student Success
If a student wants to improve his or her grades, he or she should walk himself or herself over to the tutoring center.  There, he or she can request a tutor to help him or her with his or her homework.  This preparation for his or her class will ensure that   he or she is ready when taking his or her quizzes and exams.  In addition, the tutor might have old work to share.  This way, the student can find out himself/herself what to expect on the assignments for a specific instructor that might change his/her assignments rarely.  Thus, the one thing that will insure the success of a student is that he or she gets a tutor to help him or her.
In the 21st century, fix the error without the annoying repetition.
