Teaching
method is a method comprises the principles and method that used by the teacher
to enable students learning. Many methods that we have known. Every teacher has different methods based on teaching
systems which will be used but generally divided into three steps such
introduction, core activities, and closing activities. In introduction session,
teacher did daily routine like motivation with recall back previous material,
there are also using games at the beginning of learning, and then teacher told
what the goals of student be able to after learning. Core activities focus on
teacher methods in learning based on level competency of the students.
During the class I
could see that teacher really manage the class and manage the time with the
methods. Managing class is talking about the manner of the teacher to handle
the characteristic of the students, some students were active and some of them
are passive or seem like they feel shy and unconfident in the class. To solve
that teacher gives more questions to make them answer by raising hand and
speaking up. The teacher did not point the same student but gave chance to
another students. In the class teacher always used English and does not allow
the students to speak the other languages. Most of the method that used is
communicative approach.
Communicative approach is one of the methods that used
for English learning at grade seven in USHS. The communicative approach is
based on the idea that learning language successfully comes through having to
communicate real meaning. When the students are involved in real communication,
their natural strategies for language acquisition will be used, and this will
allow them to learn to use the language. It is not too difficult to teach
English in the country that English is second language. The teacher more
emphasis on skills than systems, lessons are more students-center, It was my
challenge to teach as the English student teacher.
1.2 Learning materials and innovation
The
teachers use PowerPoint presentation, handout, and others material to support
teaching. Based on my observation in the class, I found the teacher forced the
students to more participate in the class with giving question and small
discuss so that they could get score and more confident to answer the
questions. In other hand the teacher applies the English to the student to talk
with the teacher everywhere, and anywhere. Then it is opportunity for the
students to always more practice with the teacher.
1.3 Sources
of learning and technology
The
teacher used many references of the book and internet network to get the goal
of teaching. And when teaching in the class the teacher used lapel and projector
to deliver the subject. The students will get more knowledge to improve their
English.
1.4 Authentic
assessment
The teacher used filler for doing and collecting the
assessment. Every meeting the teacher always give the evaluation in the end of
the class. If there is not enough time it will be homework and if it is
possible time it will be worked and corrected together.
The evaluation also will be held when the end of the
material and quarter assessment.
